NAME
xm_points - Points format for the xmap8 program
SYNOPSIS
xm_points - Input File Format
DESCRIPTION
This is for providing plotting of points where the control
of the symbol, label size and fonts as desired. This facil-
ity is useful if you have cities, highways, volcanos or
other point objects that need to be identified, but that are
not conveniently plotted as earthquakes.
You can get point files loaded by using the -p point_file
option
FORMAT
Files are free format with this input:
name lat lon depth color symbol symcode symsize strcode font_size just
where,
name = alpha numeric label, up to 200 characters, uses underscore '_' for spaces
lat = latitude, positive north
lon = longitude, positive east
depth = depth in km, positive down!
color = color index drawn from the standard xmap8 palatte (see manpage xm_color)
symbol = symbol code: one of
0 = draw_triang = upside down triangle
1 = draw_triang_2 = right side up triangle

symcode = 0->off 1->plot symbol
symsize = size of symbol in pixels
strcode = plotting label 0->off 1->plot symbol
font_size = font size in points(72=inch), for the screen
there are only 2 sizes (>12 or <12) for the postscript
though, this will be the true size in points
